A Letter from Tenzin

Dear Friends,

We reached a milestone last month. In August, 2007, we had our 100th volunteer at Jatson Chumig. To celebraTenzin_Choedonte this achievement, I wanted to write to every visitor who has come to Jatson Chumig Welfare Special School and spend a few moments updating you.  Too much time has passed since we have communicated and I hope you'll always have fond memories of your time in Tibet and of being with the children of Jatson Chumig.

There are now 145 children who call Jatson Chumig ... Home.   We have 75 children who spend their day at JCWSS (from Pre-school through Class VI).  There are now 31 students in middle school (they attend classes off-campus) and 20 more students who attend high school with an additional 18 attending Vocational Training. We now have our second student who is attending a university in China.

It is this continued rising costs in education that I am appealing to you to give a gift to Jatson Chumig. I am asking you for a monetary donation of $100 USD. If you can be more generous,  I  am asking you to consider making a $600 USD donation which would sponsor one child for one full year!  It is now possible for you to make this gift online - you can make a donation right now by clicking here.

New Web Site
LogoWe are excited to announce our new web site which was officially launched at the mailing of this newsletter. Many thanks to Steve Sisney for his assistance on our first website and to Brian McClatchy for his creation of our new website and this Constant Contact newsletter. In case you are wondering why this email is different, it is because Brian is now working [volunteering] for JCWSS from America and has setup the new site and Constant Contact under JatsonChumig@aol.com. My email (Tenzin's) address remains the same as in the past at jatson4@yahoo.com.

I hope you like the look of our new web site and I look forward to hearing your responses. We need your feedback to know how best to proceed in the future. Jatson Chumig has a very special past ~ because you were part of it ~ now we want to have an even more exciting future and hope you'll want to continue to be a part of our growth and success.

You have already helped us by being here and by giving your time to the children. I hope you consider my present request and help us with a financial contribution. Another way for you to help us is to pass along this email to friends/family and let them know of the importance of Tibet's first orphanage, Jatson Chumig, in all that it accomplishes for the children and people of Tibet.  Together, let's see where the future takes us!

Sincerely,

Tenzin Choedon
