The best way to make *change* is to become involved. One way or another, the children of Jatson Chumig matter to you - otherwise, you would not be reading this. There are many inspirational quotes one can read to help make a difference in this world and instead of using Google to find something, I've got something even better ... Something I wrote in my Daily Wrap while flying back home from Tibet on my most recent trip, January/February, 2010.

We hope you can find it in your heart to reach down and help us UP. There are various ways one can made a donation/contribution to Jatson Chumig using this website. The one-time donation, the monthly donation, the student-sponsorship program, the general operating cost donation and the Capital Campaign donation.

Online donations can be made for as little as $1 which would feed one child for one day. You can also select an amount and actually Buy-a-Wish, both of these choices (and more) can be found the Wish List.

For some, a monthly payment/donation of any kind can be too much, especially during these tough economic times we are all going through. There is always the One-Time Donation for Any Amount. You choose the amount you want to donate and make a one-time donation. No long-term commitment, no monthly payments, just a click and you are still helping Jatson Chumig in a big way. For this one time donation, please choose Option 1 from the Make a Donation webpage.

If you've ever wondered how we have so many donors, it's because they have selected an easier way to make donations (reoccurring monthly donations) which is Option 2 on our Make a Donation webpage. You select and it will spread out your donations for as little as $5/month, $10/month or $25/month.

The Sponsor-a-Student Program has been an incredible success for Jatson Chumig! Since we first started this in October, 2007 a total of 82 sponsorships have occurred. This doesn't mean 82 children are being sponsored, it means many (most) donors continue their sponsorship, once they begin. The most recent sponsored children being sponsored are Yeshi Choedon (student # 158) and Tashi (student # 172).  Yeshi is being sponsored by John P. who is from Australia but working in Thailand. This is John's third-year of sponsorship. 
Tashi is being sponsored by The Paramedics of the Tasmanian Ambulance Service in Australia. Both these monthly sponsorships arrived on the same day ... August 26th, 2010.

What does the sponsorship mean? What do I get for my sponsorship? What do the kids get who are being sponsored?


A student sponsorship identifies one child with a specific person. The money donated for the sponsorship goes into the Jatson Chumig General Fund which is used to buy food, clothing, medical care and pay for the education of all the children.

You get to feel great knowing that you are helping and as an added bonus, the child/children you sponsor write note cards and draw pictures which are sent to you at various times during the year. You can also write a letter/postcard and mail it to the school c/o Tenzin Choedon with your sponsored child's name under her's. The school address can be found on this website. Tenzin then reads your letter to the child and they post it up in their dorm room. They LOVE getting letters, drawings, stickers ... anything which they can save.

The sponsored child knows someone is helping. To be honest, since everything is shared, they share what they receive with their "family". A sponsorship goes to pay for all the children's expenses, but one gets to write back to say, thank you.
